Love, Loss and New Life

Before I introduce you all to little Addison Kate StClair, who is the cutest tiny baby ever! Let me share with you a story of this families journey of Love, Loss, and the celebration of New Life, all within this past year.

October 2nd 2010 I had the honor and privilege of taking on my first wedding as a photographer for Rachel and Billy. I work with Rachels mom, and she asked me to be their photographer, and NO was not an option. So I spent an entire day with them in the celebration of their love for each other and capturing moments of happiness with friends and family of theirs. It was both exciting and rewarding as a photographer. It is an awesome side effect of the job, you grow to love and care for your clients who then become your friends in the process.

Then on March 9th 2011 tragedy came into the lives of my friends as a car accident took the lives of Leslie and Bridget the younger sisters of Rachel, two girls who loved God and life completely. The loss of each of them had an effect on this entire community in a way that I had not seen before. Their loss changed lives, saved lives and still does today. I miss seeing their faces everyday. In a time of loss the Sullivent family found strength in God to comfort all of us around them, to tell US it was going to be OK. I will never forget this, and today am still in awe of it.

Then there is the joy of pregnancy and the anticipation of new life. Rachel asked me do her maternity photos, and as always she is just fun, and laughing and up for letting me try new and creative ideas to get “the shot” even at 8 months pregnant in the Georgia heat!

So here we are almost a year later and they have little Addison, who is as sweet as can be, by far the easiest baby shoot I have done to date. It was also my 100th photoshoot! She has the sweetest little face with the darkest and fullest head of hair I have seen on a baby. The journey of this story now enters the chapter of New Life, in a year with so many emotions for a family all at once. Its so beautiful to celebrate and capture these times for a family I have grown to love very much.

Addison Kate, you have two very special Aunties watching over you from above, who loved you before you got here, and love you now from a very special place beyond. You are a blessing to this family, as much as they are a blessing to you.

  4. Greg, Thank you so much for putting these beautiful words in writing. You are absolutely right that there are two angel aunts loving this little girl like no one on Earth could comprehend. If Leslie and Bridget were still here, this baby would be spoiled rotten. They are still loving and spoiling her, just not by earthly means. And little Addison has the beauty and the love of the entire family in her sweet little face. Thank you for the words and the beautiful pictures!
